Phala - "The Beginning"

This album will show a series of photos starting from plot buying through the process of the layout and hole digging. The plot is in the Banchang district of Rayong in the sub-district of Phala Beach.At the end I have included a floor plan of the house.

Our Phala House - Architect's Rendering & The Finished Look

This album shows the view of the land and house from the architect's view. As with most projects the final finished look will be different. How close did we actually come to achieving the look the architect drew up?

Phala - "The Floor comes next"

This album continues the build with a series of photos from the beam form removal up to the floor panel install and concrete pouring. Slowly a house is starting to rise above the dirt and weeds. When we started I told the Mrs. if she prays to Buddah and keeps watering the weeds a house would grow and it seems like its working. Spreading some baht around also helps to fertilize the soil.

Phala - "The Roof"

This album will continue our house build focusing mainly on the construction of the roof. The beginning of the roof started on 18 Feb 2009 when the men delivered some of the pre-painted steel sections. This album will follow the erection process of the steel superstructure that will follow with the install of the CPAC Monier roof tiles.

In this album I will post the photos of the installation of the CPAC Monier roof tile from start to finish which should include the reflective foil under the tile and the sheet metal and valley work.

Phala - "The Walls"

When you look through this album it will contain the picture story of the wall building. We are using the Q-Con brand of wall block. I chose the 7.5 cm wide blocks and we will be making double wide walls in and out with a cavity in between the blocks. I will of course add comments as we go along to help the viewer understand the process.

Phala - "Ceiling"

I decided to change this album to "Ceiling" only and make a separate album for the water pipes as there are too many photos that need to be in each album. So now this album is only ceiling work related to the gypsum (drywall/sheetrock) both for the inside and outside of the house.

Phala - "Electrical"

In this album I will try to detail the electrical part of the house build in pictures and some narration. The house will have a 3 phase supply rated at 15(45) amp service. I will take advantage of the 3 phase and install a higher power water heater and later a ceiling AC for the living room. All the wiring will be in pvc conduit and wireway above the ceilings and HDPE conduit to the pole.

Phala - "Kitchen"

In this album I will try to put only kitchen related photos as we move now into the finish phase of the build. We hired a built-in cabinet company to do the work. Our cabinets are not solid wood but wood and wood products. No pressed board or particle board that I have seen and the outer surfaces are teak veneer.

Phala - "Pump House"

I decided to add this album dues to the separate nature of this work. The pump house will be in the beginning a open style building with one wall. The budget is being stretched and to save a few baht I chose to only build it with a roof and one wall. So this album will follow the building and fitting out of this room.

21 March 2009This may seem like an odd view of the roof but what I am trying to show is the wood fascia boards the builder uses on the eaves. We are not using the typical plastic curved pieces under the first layer of tile. The men custom cut this wood to form an almost perfect fit to the underside of the tile to keep the critters and birds out.pklongball
