Poured ArchwayA side image of the poured archway. The concrete is poured within a wood framework and supported by wood slats which extend to the ground.dozer

Attaching the Ceiling FramworkThe ceiling guys were really good. I liked the way they did the ceiling framework, straight and attached to framed pieces of aluminum, not strands (for more stability).dozer
IMG_4423.jpg
Exterior Perimeter WallHouse as it looked during finishing when the exterior perimeter wall was being built. Note the perimeter all columns will be poured around the wall sections (ie. not done first), which increases the strength of the wall joints.dozer
IMG_4449.jpg
Ceiling Sanding PlasterHere the plaster is sanded so that the ceiling paint will adhere. The round spots are where the sheetrock gypsum board is screwed into the aluminum framework. The lines are where the joints are taped between pieces.dozer

Grouting the Glass BlocksThe glass blocks are grouted using a colored premium grout (bacteria resistant) applied using a plastic bag as a application tube.dozer

Duct Work for Exhaust VentingThere are two exhaust vents one from the kitchen and one from the bathroom. This shows the ductwork used. The vent facing fits in the soffit framework.dozer

Tile SpacersSpacers being used laying the floor tiles to maintain a consistent spacing. dozer

Applying 2" Composite Sheeting on SoffitThe soffit is finished with 2" Shera brand composite sheeting. These are nice and functional, but more expensive than flat composite GRC sheeting. dozer

Tiling the Great RoomTiling in process. There are different tiles used in the kitchen, great room and bedrooms. The tile is laid over a concrete slurry mix and leveled using straight lines.dozer
IMG_4548.jpg
Terrazzo CounterThis shows the raw dry concrete mixture (using a porland white cement + fine aggregate stones) being laid on top of the counter surface. It is important to not have too wet a mixture for strength of the finished counter top.dozer
IMG_4550.jpg
Terrazzo Counter TrowelingThe dry concrete mix (with added natural pigment for coloration) is hand troweled into place. This requires experienced guys who know how to add just enough water (which is sprinkled on top of the dry concrete mix so it can be worked) and apply pressure to work out the air bubbles.dozer
IMG_4557.jpg
Exterior Walkway TilingThis shows rebar strips being pressed into the newly poured exterior concrete surface to make a faux tile finish. The rebar strips are used after the concrete has had time to 'set up' so that the impression can be made by pressing the rebar frame into the concrete.dozer
