Gypsum CeilingI don't know how they were able to keep out of each others way, but the gypsum ceiling guys and the tile guys were working at the same time. Here, the steel supports in the living room are going up. We used foil-backed gypsum, and it took about 3 working days to complete all the ceiling work.DrDave00000

Day #42 - TileStarting to lay the tile. They began by laying a few rows straight from the rear to the front of the house. This view is from the kitchen, looking into the living room at the front of the house.DrDave00000

Kitchen CounterWe weren't able to find reasonably priced wood doors for the thai-style counters, so we opted for these plastic ones. (In Phuket, we could have bought nice looking wood doors for the same price of these plastic ones). A stainless steel sink goes under the window, and the top, sides and front of the benches will be covered by 20x20cm stone-look tile. DrDave00000

Electric BoxesWhen we returned to the site, we found that they had installed the boxes for the plugs about 140cm off the ground. One of those things that makes you scratch your head and say "what were they thinking?". We had them move these down to about 40-50cm in the living room.DrDave00000

Resized Kitchen WindowOnce we returned to the site, I noticed that they made the window rough openings lower than I had expected. No problem, except in the kitchen, where there would be a counter and sink under a window. In order to allow enough room for a backsplash over the counter, we decided to make this one window a little smaller by adding 3 rows of brick, and doing the rendering again.DrDave00000

Breaker Box (Consumer Panel)First they put it in the front bedroom. Then my wife told them to move it to the kitchen rear wall, above the washing machine, where it would be in a "utility area" out of sight. Where they actually put it was in the kitchen entryway, in plain sight when sitting in the living room. Really ugly. D'oh!DrDave00000

Bedroom ViewThe view from the 150x100 rear bedroom window. The entire land plot is about 2 rai, with other family houses on either side. To the rear are banana trees and a klong, affording a nice view.DrDave00000
