Concrete rings for sewer1685 viewsThese come in various sizes. These are 75cm inside dia., 50cm deep, hold 220 litres each and cost 90 baht each. Calculate ?€ x radius?² x depth, to get the volume. We use two silos of four of these rings; the silos are linked for 1st and 2nd stage processing. They will be sealed inside with bitumen paint. That gives us a total of 1,760 litres which is more than enough for a small household. Ready made glass fibre tanks of this capacity cost about 8,000 baht. Another $200+ saved!jazzman

Compacting the back fill.1676 viewsOnce the floor areas between the footings had been filled with the leftover earth from the foundations, it was compacted every 10 cm. This is essential, as this will be a support for the concrete floor until it has fully cured, a process which will take a t least 28 days.
Thai builders don't think about doing this, and these had never used one before. This one costs about 25,000 baht to buy, but you can rent one for the duration of your construction for about 500 B.

Living Room1665 viewsSeen from the kitchen. For a small house, the living room is deceptively spacious. The whole floor space is usable, no wasted nooks and crannies - a result of cunning interior design.jazzman

sau romain, fixing the capital1618 viewsContemporary Thai architecture favours fake Roman columns. (Like the Brits with their pseudo Edwardian porticos, some people love it, some find it totally kitchy - problem is, you can't choose and build your own house in the UK). Some local Thai workers refuse to build to any other design. We refused to be pressured into Doric columns at over 5,000 baht each, we used concrete drain pipes to have Tuscan pillars.

Master Bedroom1617 viewsAt over 20 m2, big enough for a master bedroom in a budget English style bungalow. What you can't see in the photo are the walk-in wardrobe, the en suite bathroom and the door to the bedroom's private patio.jazzman

?¸?Base Unit Doors1600 viewsWe couldn't find a local carpenter to make these with a reasonable finninsh so we had to by factory made ones from Global House. These were the cheapest decent ones and together cost 22,000 baht. (one is a unit with three drawers, the others are just cupboard fronts). The result is a compromise between what we originally wanted and what our Thai workers could achieve. Granito floor will be laid. The blue pipe sticking up is for the floor drain.

Laying Granito slabs1590 viewsThis is a tricky job and precision is a word Thai builders don't understand. Each slab has an arrow on the underside ensuring they are all laid in the same direction. They are butt laid (no spaces for grouting) and the large 60 x 60 slabs should each be checked with a spirit level when laying.

Leach pipe.1580 viewsA leech system septic tank always end with a system of these. Should need no further description. It's a 4" / 100 mm pipe with holes drilled in it. See the forum on Plumbing to know more.
Seepage tanks should also have an overflow pipe. It is essential to measure the percolation of the substrate before simply installing the more simple seepage type of tank.jazzman
