Skim Coat ApplicationApplying the skim coat to the archways. The product used for the skim coat is called 'Nature White' which is a white portland cement skim coat product which mixes up using a drill mounted agitator. The product is mixed with natural die pigment to achieve coloration. It can be applied over a smooth surface in a thin layer. dozerSep 27, 2011

Bathroom nearing completionNote the raised elevation water heater and the decorative glass blocks. The water heater was selected because it is more durable than the adjustable water warmer types, it is a Seimens brand. The warm/cold water is mixed at the faucet. dozerSep 27, 2011

Silicone SealantThe silicone sealant is applied to the terrazzo tiles and the skim coat on the counter. Several coats are applied to prevent moisture problems. dozerSep 27, 2011

Wood Trim for Ceiling FinishThese teak wood trim pieces have a 90 % fitting to allow them to be easily applied to a corner, as in this application. They are lacquered with several coats prior to being affixed in place. At the joints a matching 45 % cut is made so they but up to each other with no joint being apparent. dozerSep 27, 2011

Air Powered Nail GunEvery wood worker will have an air powered nail gun. They shoot small nails into the wood and affix to the sheetrock gypsum board. It is a pretty effective way of attaching trim wood that is used universally in Thailand.dozerSep 27, 2011

Metal GateThe gate metal work being done offsite. Even with a simple gate design, which I highly recommend as the normal elaborate Thai style gates I find ugly, some parts cannot be done by normal site workers, such as the circle rounds, as a machine is used to bend the metal. Normally outsourcing metal work is worth it since the finishing will be more detailed.dozerSep 27, 2011

Taping for Paint ApplicationThe taped kitchen wall exhaust fan and in the upper corner the taped decorative glass blocks. The windows come with pre applied plastic which will be removed after the paint is applied, so these don't need to be taped.dozerSep 27, 2011
