Starting to Dig the Water TankThe underground water tank will be appx. 2 meters long by .7 meters wide by 1 meter deep for a capacity of about 1400 liters. An underground water tank has a durability + no loss of space advantage over a above ground tank. However care must be taken to make sure that they are leak proof.dozer

Block Formwork for TankThe cinder blocks are used as form work for the walls of the tank which are re enforced with rebar. dozer

Water TankNote the rebar that surrounds the tank and extends out of the walls. This was a part of the rebar meshing used to re enforce the structure. The interior cinderblock is formwork but will remain in the finished structure. It will be rendered with a waterproofing agent as was the cement in the walls of the tank. dozer

Air VentAir from the plumbing appliances, such as toilet, sink, floor drains, urinal are properly vented up through the wall and out of the ceiling. This is rather rare in Thai construction but is a standard in other countries. The symptom of improperly vented appliances is that they do not flow properly, the vents allow air into the system so no vacuum is formed, allowing a proper flow.dozer

Tank Seepage TestThe underground tank was tested as to its water proof-ness. The water was allowed to set for 24 hours and no seepage was detected. dozer

Initial Formwork for the Lid PourThis shows the initial formwork for the lid pour. The plywood is supported by 2" x 3" form work below. After the pour the form work will be removed.dozer

Rebar Re Enforcement of LidThis shows the framework to support the top of the tank. The rebar used is 6 mm and is spaced about at 10 cm squares. The blue PVC is where the water will enter the tank from the deep artesian pump, the yellow is the electric which will be routed to the electronic valve for the tank and the artesian pump.dozer

Top of Tank FinishingHere the concrete is being poured and finished on top of the tank. It is thick enough to support a motorcycle + car. dozer

Leveling Brick EnclosureLeveling the brick enclosure at the front right of the garden area. The enclosure protects the deep water well casing and pvc piping. There is a submerged pump at the bottom of the six inch borehole, which is secured via heavy duty electric wire + a rope safety. dozer
