my message disappears

Post by cruzing »

Dozer,

Lately whenever I am answering a pm or replying to a topic, when I add an attachment my message disappears and I'm back at the sign on screen. It is getting very frustrating when I've taken time to answer someone and then my answer is gone. If I remember to copy and save what I've written before hitting attach then I can continue.....but usually I forget. This happens more than way more than 50% of the time I'd say.

Anyone else have this problem?

I'm in the process of upgrading the attachment mod (the script that allows attachments to be added) and also the bulletin board software (PHPbb) itself. Once this is done (in the next couple of days), let me know if you see this again. Also, just as a precaution, can you clear your browsers cache memory?

As from today, Tuesday 6 feb. jazzman has the same problem as cruising. Although already logged in, pressing 'submit' returns to the log inpage with the default skin.

Does it happen consistently? If not, what percentage of times does this happen. I have been trying to recrate this but haven't been able to.

Try switching to the softgreen template and see if you have the same problem. Go under profile at the top of the page. At your profile, select the softgreen template and try to send the same PM.

Let me know.

I've been using the green skin ever since I joined the forum. Did you get my message about the PMs I try to send hanging in the outbox?

Yes, they stay in the outbox until they are picked up and read my the receiving party. This post is getting off topic. Any other problems not relating to posts disappearing, please create a new topic.

My pm went yesterday as far as I know, BUT would not allow any attachments as it said I'd exceeded my limit.......this after deleting EVERYTHING except one pm in my inbox.

Hi Cruzing: Be sure to report which template you are using when you have this problem (or any other) and change the template and then let me know if the problem still continues. THE CODE in the 2 templates is not the same, so this will narrow down the problem.

Dozer,

I am using the new format on CTH. I just spent about 45 minutes to an hour laboriously putting in a lot of information about thai woods from Mr. Cruzing book on thai woods. When I hit preview it went to the log in page and I lost everything. Very frustrating to say the least.

Thanks,
Carlyn

Hi Cruising,

Whenever I am preparing a long, important posting, I do it in a word processor first. When I'm happy with it, I then paste it into the forum. That way no valuable data gets lost if the forum software has hiccups.
