Gallery Error

Post by pklongball »

I just now have been creating my first album. After adding files and using the "edit files" choice I find after making edits and check box choices and hit the update button I have received an error message at least 4 times now And the updates only partly were accepted. Annoying

Critical error
Script called without the required parameter(s). (caption1454)

After trying a few things it seems for me that when I use the check box for resetting all view counters I get the error and also if I scroll down and just check 3 or 4 of the reset boxes I also get the error and the counters do not reset

Just completed a through test of the gallery and in particular updates as you describe using the edit feature. I wasn't able to recreate the same error so I am assuming it was just a glitch at the time. If you see the same thing again please post more info here about the specifics.

Ok thanks Dozer

Maybe you can explain one more thing about uploading photos to the gallery.

I am thick about some things so bear with me.

When uploading several up to 5 pics at one time and then adding to an album and then upping 5 more and so on,,when all files are uploaded and added and I go to the view/edit area all the pics are in a different order mostly reversed from the order I loaded them. So is there a way I can upload and have all the pics in the order I want them? Its extra time to mess around with the sort order in the gallery and if I am missing the boat on an easier way to upload please let me know.

You do have to use the sort to order the pics as you want them for the default view. However, there are some sort buttons over on the right hand side when you look at your album. They read Title + -, Filename + -, Date + - etc. If you hit the Date - for example (click on the '-') it sorts the pics in reverse order. This doesn't change the default sort order for others however, but you will then see all of the albums of yours and everyone elses in reverse chronological order. You can also select the '+' for chronological (or sort on any of the other categories also).

I still would recommend manually using the sort function as cumbersome as it may be to initially sort the pics in the default order you want them in.

I'm still not sure if I have understood the problem correctly, but I find that Coppermine has all the features for ordering all your albums, and all the photos in them, whichever way you want them or have uploaded them. Therefore, the order you upload them is not imortant - you can always do this later.
I use Coppermine on several forums (thanks to Dozer's recommendation) so I know it quite well. Apart from a few compatibility snags with phpBB, it seems to suit everyone's needs.

All,

I'm not sure I can clearly explain this.

But briefly when I upload say 10 jpg's to an existing album and I want to maintain the chronological order of all photos in the album I think what happens is the newest photos get added to the album at the top of the list in reverse order that I upload them and so I have to re-order the newest photos to the bottom of the list to keep them in chronological order. What I'm looking to do is add the newest photo to the list at the numerical end of the list and so on to keep them in order. Oldest photo is number one and the newest one is number xxx. But it seems when a pic is loaded it goes to the top of the order

As I said I will document this on the next go round and maybe then it will be more clear for me and you also.

That's right. But you can rearrange them in any order, you can also add the captions later. I admit it can be a bit of a pain, but it is easy - just takes time.
