The host is aware of the problem which was caused by some forgotten/unmaintained test forums (mostly on other sites!).
The main problem was not so much all that spam, but that some of the database tables there had been corrupted. So whenever another spammer tried to post his spam, one of these corrupted tables got accessed, which blocked the database for many minutes.

By monitoring the database queries when the server was blocked I could find the blocking queries, and with them the spammers paradise forums.

After that I emptied the complete forum databases and checked and repaired all databases on the server, and went through it for a big cleanup.

And, surprise surprise, since then, for 24 hours already, I haven't noticed a single problem.
So this problem should be fixed now!

I've just been to the wood and woodworking forum and it claims I don't have permission to read it. Why is that?

I'm going to blame Mike, the thread said he was the last one to post something there.... before we needed permits, licences and security clearance to look at it.

There is no such thing. It's a myth, a fable, a fantasy.

Well the myth, fable and fantasy is still saying
"wood and woodworking
You do not have the required permissions to read topics within this forum."

So it's not very talkative, is it?

I am sure that all concerned are working flat out to fix the problem, but it's obviously very difficult. :D

MGV12,
Do I have your "permission" to view the topic Wood and Woodworking? It has now been two days since Mike lasted posted on that thead and got it locked it down (I'm going to blame him anyway). I don't know what could be so controversial about that topic that would cause this, however, as you are the Moderator for that thread I'm sure you have your reasons for disbarring us all from looking at what he posted. I wonder if you could post them here so we can all have a laugh?
Because of the forced silence, I take it word from the current rulers may have caused this dilemma and it might involve illegal activities to do with imported wood from say Burma, Loas or even Cambodia that the current rulers are clamping down on.... only illegal Thai wood can be used and only if it has illegal stamps all over it and has been at the bottm of a "pond" for a few years.... If this is the case I understand, otherwise I don't.
How can a post by Mike lock a thread down controlled by you? I thought the "moderators" had the supreme power?
Perhaps we should call in the Thai Police to investigate, along with the local mafia bosses?

<Probably all of the above and more ... or to let the facts get in the way of a good [?] story none at all. Dozer created it and Dozer will correct it. Thanks for your patience  :) - mod>
