Posting a topic in the right place?

Post by jazzman »

This is an excellent site and I wish I had discovered it sooner. I wasn't even looking for building advice when I found it, although it just happens that I started building my house three weeks ago. I have already got some very good advice from the posters - and I'm one of those people that thinks he knows it all already ;-) I have even made two new friends in my region through it. I arrived at coolhouse by clicking on a wrong link on another site (ajarn.com I think it was). I'm definitely going to put links to it on a couple of sites I am currently developing, and maybe on this one which I built a couple of years ago http://www.nittayo.org because the teachers who visit it may be considering building their first house in Thailand. Some of the teachers I hired are building already.

Just one suggestion:
This very forum section "feedback" has too many threads that are nothing really to do with general feedback about the forum. They belong under the relevant forums which were designed for them. If this forum software makes provision for it, it may be an idea to shift some of the threads over to where they belong before "feedback" gets too cluttered or people miss some interesting stuff by not thinking to look for them here. If the Administrator wants any help here, he only has to ask.

I have written a nice up-to-date compact thing about "Where to buy". It contains sections on the main building materials, links and maps to suppiiers, and tips on how to avoid getting ripped off. It's just knowing where to post it. I think there is room here for a Construction forum called just that: "Where to buy" - Moderator / Administrator please advise me...

Jazzman: I appreciate the feedback (no pun intended!). Part of the confusion is there is a feedback form on the main website. On the form itself I refer users to the forum, but often someone just wants a quick and fast way of dropping me a line. So originally this section was just a place to drop all of these feedbacks. In the future I'll post messages which aren't feedback related to the appropriate section.

Can you post your Where to Buy to the General section for the time being. If it is something just to do with where to buy it would go in the Specific Recommendations section, but if bundled with other info, put it in general. The effort on your part is appreciated.
