Edit Feature

Post by Boon Mee »

I know it would help me if we had an 'edit' feature with this forum software. Often, I'll hit 'submit' and only then realize mistakes.

Thanks

edit function

Post by dozer »

This should already be turned on for registered users. Of course since I am an admin it would be on for me. Play with it and see if you can get it to work, otherwise I create a new bogus user to test with and try to figure it out.

edit feature screen shots

Post by dozer »

There are two things for you to check about editing. On the very bottom right of the screen when viewing the topic there is a set of permissions. If you have permission to edit your posts it will show here. Additionally as the next shot shows there should be an edit button on any posts which are yours.

edit feature

You can try it now. Downside, I think a post can be edited after another has responded.

if another post is added then the previous post that was edited has in the post that it has been edited.

Didn't explain that to well, if someone posts after this post and then I edit it it would say that I have edited it, if I edit it now then it wont say.

Deleting posts

Post by UncleDonald »

Shouldn't we be able to delete our own posts, for example if we post something that is mistaken?

ALso, there doesn't seem to be a screen that shows latest posts, which is always an interesting feature in these sites, sort of like reading the newspaper.

deleted posts

The idea of not allowing a user to delete their own posts is some later poster may read the post and already be responding to it. If the post is edited at least there is a notation to that effect, so there is a smooth flow between posts.

The screen showing all latest posts is a good long term idea. What I would like to do long term is to bring that screen on the home page along with the blog articles.
