Plasterboard suspension.A lot opf people on site today, electricians installing the consumer units in the rooms and the fans, and the ceiling men working in all the rooms at the same time. We had also started touching up the welds and scratches on the steel with red oxide, but gave up and started digging footings for the perimeter wall instead.
The materials for the ceiling come to almost exactly 100 baht per square metre.

Ceiling fansCheap, 48", only 590 baht in GlobalHouse. This one is just spot welded to the beam. It will be taken down again and the tube will be cut to the correct length for suspension in the circular ceiling recess.. The hook will then be securely bolted to the beam and the welds repainted.jazzman

Day 26 RoofThe roof is almost finished with just a few small snags to tidy up. Remember that there are no drawings for this project and it's a question of make-it-up-as-you-go. It's also a training excercise for my workers. We still have a lot to do on the land including a frontage wall with gate and motel gatehouse at one end, and another gate with archway at the other end of the land, a large sala as a dining-room restaurant, a floating sala on the pond, and a meeting room/classroom on the field behind.jazzman

Floor drain for bathrooms, kitchens, patios, etc.These are made of high quality stainless steel, are an extremely effective design, easy to clean out and simply cute. They come in several sizes from square at 14 x 14 cm to rectangular at 14 x 32 cm. Disadvantage? The price! (like everything else from Cotto) - about 1,000 baht.
As Thai tilers usually cut tiles with their teeth (or so it seems), we found it better to avoid having them install circular drains.jazzman

Timer module.An analog timer to fit on the rack inside the MCB housing. This one will carry 16A. An MCB (of the same or a lower amperage should be inserted in the circuit AFTER the clock the MCB will trip out before the overload wrecks the timer. Can be used for anything from perimiter lighting to pool filtration. Needs to be coupled to a relay if high amperage switching above 16A.jazzman

Conduit: wide angle bendAlthough Thai electricians will rarely use conduit in the roof space, they will if you insist. Conduit is made of PVC pipe similar to the blue water pipe. To make the diference clear, electrical conduit id coloured YELLOW. It is available in the same sizes as PVC water pipe from 3/8" (sam hun) up. All the normal connectors, T, elbows, and WIDE RADIUS BENDS are produced.

Conduit is so cheap it's not worth cuting corners on.jazzman

Floor before the pour.Floor (about half the house is in the photo) ready to pour. The wire mesh is anchored to the walls and is propped up to prevent sinking during the pour. Height pegs with orange day-glo paint have been inserted to ensure level smoothing to the required height. The next day will be an early start with CPAC (1,400 baht/cu) arriving at 7 am. jazzman

The washbasin in the en suite bathroom. A flush fitting basin (650 baht, Global House) and a PVC cupboard unit (900 baht, village hardware store) guaranteed not to rot! The 'marble, tops were made from lefovers from the Granito floor.

bTicino escutcheonsEscutcheon plates for bTicino flush switches/sockets. The base units all have 3 holes. The large base units all have 6 holes and tha escutcheons cme in 4 or 6 hole versions.jazzman

Living room ceilingThe ceiling was done this way because:
Mrs Jazzman wanted one like it.
It's very easy to install. Took 2 men 2 hours for 40 m2.
It's cheaper even than plasterboard (Shitrock?) at around 50 baht per m2 including the rails.
It gives instant access to any part of the attic.
Allows a rapid redistribution or addition of lighting elements and fans etc.
Jazzman likes it too (although he thought it was a bit kitsch at first)

PorchThe gable end is covered with the same cream coloured 3" SHERA board that will be used for the soffit. The drainpipes for the Tuscan pillars can be clearly seen. They will be clad when we get an idea of what with- probably light green mosaic tiles.

Porch ceilingPorch ceiling made of plasterboard aka gypsum board, Rigips, or known in the US as sheetrock? In the picture is the recess for a downlight. Atilla has recesses like this in all his rooms for the ceiling fans. The Thais just love working with plasterboard since they discovered it last year...
