RenderingThe rendering of all the interior and exterior walls is now complete. We used 35 bags of rendering cement (boon chap) and sand carefully sieved through blue plastic netting. This cement is sold in 40 Kg bags, not 50 Kg, at 100 baht each. We added plasticiser to the mix - a 100 baht can was enough.jazzman![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) (0 votes)

Septic tanksDouble-chamber septic tanks with leech system. Our substrate is hard clay and does not percolate to allow seepage tanks. The two in the picture serve two rooms; there will be an identical installation at the other end of the building for the other two rooms and the outside WC/shower and laundry room. Black water flows into the first tank which overflows into the second tank. Grey water goes directly into the second tank. There are no kitchens so a grease trap is not required.jazzman![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) (0 votes)

21 Feb 2009This flight of steps is at the side of the house that gets us up to the back balcony area. So when the forms come off we will have a way up to the floor area from 2 points and no more crawling up and down for the duration of the build.pklongball![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) (0 votes)

21 Feb 2009Today we can see the addition of a tall section of scaffolding. They brought this in today as the work on the upper sections of the steel will start and they need to have something high to work from.pklongball![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) (0 votes)

21 Feb 2009The crawl space access is being closed in also. First a small footing is built then some blocking will be added. I also told him I wanted some vents in this area on bouth sides of the house for getting some fresh air under the house. The vents will be built to keep any and all the unwanted "guests" from entering the space.pklongball![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) (0 votes)

21 Feb 2009The builder decided we needed the steps built now as opposed to waiting. I agreed as now we will have a way to get from the ground to the floor area without the need for makeshift ladders and stuff.pklongball![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) (0 votes)

Raising the RoofSecond day of the roof build and we have some progress. 2 beams are now in place and by the end of the day at least 5 will be welded in place. Some other work also started on the forms for the front steps by the old foundation/beam teampklongball![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) (0 votes)

The roof beginsThis was day one of the roof beginning. 2 men and a younger man showed up with tools, welders, some scaffolding and started work assembling our roof. I'm guessing 10 days to 2 weeks to complete the steel work and get ready for the tile.pklongball![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) ![0](themes/rainy_dayDozer/images/rate_empty.png) (0 votes)
