32 viewsAnother thing on my potential good idea list is using the heavy cement block (as shown on the right compared to a regular cement block) for doing the outside wall. I'd be interested to know if anyone has done a house with these. Please let me know via feedback if so.dozer

32 viewsHere is a nice village house which sets on piers. The upper storey is completed in wood, the lower ground floor may be finished at a later date in cement. (15-Apr-04)dozer

32 viewsA close up of some of the raw magnesium used as a filtration unit. The tanks are basically filled with granules and the water is forced through the granules. (19-Aug-04)dozer

31 viewsThis is the poured base for the small bathroom shower enclosure. Unfortunately it isn't supposed to be 'raised' like this so this was later leveled and done a second time. (15-Jun-04)dozer

31 viewsThis door lock caused a lot of problems. I would, in the future, go for a more easy to install model. (26-Jun-04)dozer

31 viewsThis is another case where most expensive is not necessarily best. These Grohe bottom washers are super heavy duty but somehow constrict the water flow, meaning that the emitted water is low pressure. A low cost standard washer has not problem with pressure. I know it is these washer since I had two installed and they both had the same problem. Later I replace on with a 'cheapy' and that one works great.dozer

31 viewsThis shows the toilet septic for the small bathroom. In all there are 4 septic tanks, 2 for water runoff and 2 for toilets. There are 5 cement rings used for each one, the standard being 4. Each ring is 1.2 meters in diameter.dozer

31 viewsI like stainless steel tanks which come in various sizes and shapes. For a single family house I would recommend storage size of 1000 or more liters. The cheaper plastic type (which you can see in the lower right of this picture) are not recommended. They supposedly are harder to clean and have problems with algae growth. I recently priced an 1600 liter stainless steel tank for 8500 Baht including delivery. (21-Apr-04)dozer
