34 viewsThe idea is to use the commonly available regular cement blocks but add an insulating factor by leaving a row of air between the blocks. dozer

34 viewsMost workmen are very familiar with the blocks so the labor cost addition of using this technique would be minimal. Since the blocks are inexpensive the overall increase in the material budget will also be minimal. These shots show the double row around the window area.

32 viewsAnother thing on my potential good idea list is using the heavy cement block (as shown on the right compared to a regular cement block) for doing the outside wall. I'd be interested to know if anyone has done a house with these. Please let me know via feedback if so.dozer

32 viewsHere is a nice village house which sets on piers. The upper storey is completed in wood, the lower ground floor may be finished at a later date in cement. (15-Apr-04)dozer

31 viewsI like stainless steel tanks which come in various sizes and shapes. For a single family house I would recommend storage size of 1000 or more liters. The cheaper plastic type (which you can see in the lower right of this picture) are not recommended. They supposedly are harder to clean and have problems with algae growth. I recently priced an 1600 liter stainless steel tank for 8500 Baht including delivery. (21-Apr-04)dozer

30 viewsHere is another idea for a water tower This one is built on a bathroom, but you could also do a storage room underneath. The tower sets on top at a height of about 5 meters. The tank has about a 2000 liter capacity. (11-May-04)dozer
