It will be taken down again and the tube will be cut to the correct length for suspension in the circular ceiling recess.. The hook will then be securely bolted to the beam and the welds repainted.jazzman

Day 27 Gable ends.535 viewsWhile the roof was going on, all the wiring, switches and sockets have been installed. I am only counting the days actually worked. The foreman has bought a new car (I'm obviously paying him too much) so with that and a wedding in our family no work was done for over a week.
The soffit and the Conwood are leftovers from building the house. Tomorrow the ceiling team is coming to do the plasterboard ceilings (sheetrock) that will have circular recesses for the ceiling fans.jazzman

Living in a small village has its charms - and advantages. With a bit of 'influence' we were able to get the new village portal built right next to our land. The entrance to the house is on the left just by the blue village name board. jazzman

Day 19506 viewsThe tiles arrived today. The last couple of days the workers have been adding the purlins, struts and battens to the rafters, and finishing the plumbing and drainage.
The 3" C-section rafters are spaced at 1m. The battens are spaced at 1m. Left over steel off-cuts are used for V-struts. The 1" x 1" x 6m battens cost 140 baht each.jazzman

Bathroom floor499 viewsThe bathroom floors will be concreted later. They are 5 cm lower than the room floors and have a 1:100 slope to the floor drain. The bathroom area looks small in the photo but it is really quite adequate at 1.4 x 2 m for a hotel room. I once rented an expensive condo in Bangkok with a smaller bathroom.jazzman

Consumer units498 viewsEach room has its own mini consumer unit with a 32A 2-pole main breaker, a 10A and a 20A MCB. The units cost 500 baht each, fully equipped.
Doing it like this will ensure that if a guest overloads a circuit in the room, only the room breaker(s) will trip and not leave all the rooms in the dark.
The entire building will have a larger consumer unit with an RCCB - of course.

Plasterboard suspension.497 viewsA lot opf people on site today, electricians installing the consumer units in the rooms and the fans, and the ceiling men working in all the rooms at the same time. We had also started touching up the welds and scratches on the steel with red oxide, but gave up and started digging footings for the perimeter wall instead.
The materials for the ceiling come to almost exactly 100 baht per square metre.
