Day #15 - Roof StructureApparently, the family forgot to take pictures the previous week, so now we jump ahead to all of the columns having been poured, and the majority of the steel roof structure fabricated, painted and put in place.DrDaveApr 28, 2009

Exterior WallsThe exterior walls are going up. I would have preferred to use larger block, or maybe even QCON block, but my wife insisted on using red brick. Incidentally, we found that not all local red brick was the same size.DrDaveApr 28, 2009

Starting the Roof PanelsAlthough you can't see it in this picture, we used standard 50x150 composite panels, but had them cut in half (75cm length) to give them a better look (more like the smaller concrete roof tiles). Since the labor contract was fixed-price, our only extra cost in doing this was that we needed twice as many fastener hooks. No extra steel was required.DrDaveApr 28, 2009

Day #1 - Foundation LayoutOn the first day of construction, the house footprint was located on the land from some rough markings my wife and I had placed before we returned to Phuket two days earlier. All of the land under the floor beams, as well as the holes for the column footings was hand-dug.DrDaveApr 28, 2009
