Re: money transfers

MGV12, The reason the US and GB are running deficits is because they farm out to private companies all the paperwork they should be doing themselves. And many of them to the former Colonies such as India ... who we are now going to cap in hand to support our attempt at recovery. I wonder how long t...

Re: money transfers

Your 43% drop seems high considering you don't contribute for five years. Thanks for the explanation ... makes your situation clearer. In the spirit of balance let me respond: My private pension is directly from my employer earned during my career with The Ford Motor Company ... I jumped ship in 19...

Re: money transfers

Just what do you mean by harsh. I took one of my pensions at sixty. After doing the calculations it works out that if taken at sixty instead of sixty-five I would be seventy-two before a lost would incur. Not that dissimilar then as mine would have worked out about the same break-even when I looked...

Re: money transfers

I was surprised when comparing the affects on the Euro against THB compared with the GBP over the last twelve months ... on XE.com ... it seemed to me that we [GBP] had suffered more but the drop is very similar at around 15% with the GBP being a fraction better in fact. Lucky young Bill has only be...

Re: money transfers

It’s not hard to see what is happening to the rest of the world with an artificially low yuan. Seems to me the cost of all natural resources would drop, unemployment world wide would lower. Currencies in Europe and America would rise significantly. Now we wouldn't want that would we? Even the 'Only...

Re: money transfers

A while back we would have said that China was the tail trying to wag the dog .... after the 'Financial Crisis' ... without doubt ... there's a new dog in town.

Re: money transfers

With thanks and apologies to The Beatles, "I've got to admit it's getting better, better. A little better all the time" The Euro has strengthened against the GBP as well .... now all we need is for someone to tell us why. I haven't seen any particularly good news about the Eurozone or bad...

Re: money transfers

Thailand has virtually no natural resources so I wonder where all the money is coming from? I know the Japanese car makers and other large industry (electronics) give the economy a huge boost, as does the tourist industry, but I still can't figure out where the money comes from (besides rice). Well...

Re: money transfers

Now they've really lost me:   :?: "The baht has weakened due to the depreciation of the euro against the US dollar, Bank of Thailand assistant governor Suchada Kirakul said on Tuesday. "The baht's weakening today is not caused by the central bank's intervention. It is moving ...

Re: money transfers

Things are not getting any better for those who are transferring funds here. Seems this trend will continue. The baht gained 0.3 percent to 31.12 per dollar as of 1:33 p.m. in Bangkok, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. It touched 31.06, the strongest level since August 2007. -- bloomberg 201...

The increasing strength of the Baht

Slightly different opinion regarding exporters in the Bangkok Post today but same trend: http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/194154/baht-soars-against-greenback There are some valid comparisons to be made between now and 1997 but I wouldn't hold your breath for the same outcome as Thailand has [re...
