Thanks for the well wishes david my retirement means i get to spend the night in bed no more nightshift the strange thing is i was always busy during the day anyway so nothing has changed the phone has been going daft and looks like i am busy for another couple of months but at a far more leisurly pace i have been teaching myself welding (basic) nothing tricky and not tried upside down which i am told is good for a few scorch marks already torched my workbench so maybe should try that one in the garden
House is on the market just a waiting game now had one offer (laughed) Had to explain to the estate agent do not insult my inteligence 60K below market so hopefully no more insults although he did say its a popular pastime with a certain race 1st place you fly over when you leave thailand not really that worried but that could change over the next couple of months its a case of hanging really and as you say slowing down the pace taking up a few leisure activities waiting for injections into my spine at the mo so cannot go too mad
If it aint broke, dont fix it

Happy retirement, Geordie !

to 60MM : nice thread !
I also consider using some container to build a little nest Mrs and i would use only once in a while. Still have lots of time before moving to action, so I haven't looked at it in detail yet. I just know it's easy to adapt, to set in place also meaning fast construction, quite cheap, easy to lock and secure...

Anyways, just wanted to share some of my preoccupations about the weather :
It's very hot here, so make sure you have some shadow above (tree / shadow sail / secondary roof . . . ), or the containers will transmute in microwave ovens ;)

Cheers

There is a shop at Khao Yai selling refurbished containers, they have 4 out the front but only 20 foot ones.....they look like crap but.

They can look very nice when done properly and the external hidden.

There is also a restaurant and home built out of them nearby and it looks completely out of character for the area and just not right. Can get a phtot one day if anyone wants to see.

So many things wrong here. Firstly they did not do a hell of a lot to dress up the containers....they still look like containers dressed up very basically. This might be what they wanted, real industrial look.

But then they put this industrial look in the middle of nowhere in Kha yai.

Then they turned it into a restaurant in the middle of nowhere.

I saw this about 3 months ago, it was open then. yesterday when I took this pic, it was closed down, no signs up anymore.

This disaster was an easy call.
