We have spent several days perusing the secondhand wood shops and bought many pieces now and put in an offer on spectacular pieces.

Currently to date we have bought...

2x3m teak window/shutter sections.
1x2m same.
3x teak doors, 2 of which are the double door swing type.
2x1.6m teak loft windows
21x3mx25cm makah floorboards.
2x6m deng posts.
6x5.5m redwood posts.
120 weatherboard teak planks 2/2.5m

and the offer was for some spectacular redwood 13/14m beams/posts.

My Mrs would swoon at all those bright flowers and fruit trees... looks loverly... are you really out of the way there, or is it deceptively developed just out of shot?!

Bit of both, the area is at the base of the southern Khao Yai mountains and just 90 minutes from Bkk. The surrounding area is mostly tree farming properties.

nawty nemo joked about hydro electric have you considered it you have a good flow on the waterfall maybe a millwheel with a belt driven car alternator might give you free lighting ??

Have thought about it, but the river floods at times during the wet, so would get washed away.

I recently heard about a small village, of which their is a farang guesthouse owner, up near CM, n ot far out of town really, maybe 50k's I think and they run the entire village on small hydro systems in their stream. But it does not flood like our river does, sure rises a little and stronger flow, but beilieve the cathcment area is small as they are in the mountains, no room yet for all the countryside and plains to shed their water in.

here is a pic of a flood we had a month ago or so....

just needs a bit more thought build it so it floats
allow the whole unit to rise with the water think along the lines of a catamaran with the genny ect built on it it will rise and fall with the water level good for all seasons ive seen houseboats do similar on the thames then run low voltage caravan lights off a couple of batteries a couple of old oil drums and a second hand car alternator would be a good start for the MK1 see how mutch power you get you never know you may become an electricity supllier

Guess I need to show a pic of the rapids that were produced in the stream proper.

Wet season floods are not the same as the Thames river rising.

The force of the water uprooted a giant bamboo clump, famous for massive root systems. it also moved boulders waying a ton or more.

A generator on a float would be welcomed downstream by someone I guess as it floated away.

Not possible during the wet, also the quickness of the flood....we were swimming in it late afternoon, nice and clear. 3.30am it was a torrent. So no warning to be able to move it etc.

Good job, I reckon this 'dried grass' looks good and will last a reasonable time at the pitch you are using -- I am considering this for a guest 'complex', interested to know how much per talang metre.
