Each thatch piece costs 14b and they were 1.4/1.5m long.

So, work that out and I placed them at 4cm spacings.

I hope it lasts a few years at least.

Bit of both, the area is at the base of the southern Khao Yai mountains and just 90 minutes from Bkk. The surrounding area is mostly tree farming properties.

I have also friends who are building a resort closed by your place in khao yai, a 2 storey house 180 m2 + 2 bungallows 40m2 each and a dozen of rustic bungallows in "dried grass" walls.

For the electricty they are going to use wind force.. and have done a wheel for the water... their project is on my point of view a little bit pharaonic.. but we'll see.

they plan also a huge swimming pool based on natural water system with 3 places and plant to clean the water.

They say that here in khao yai, any room to rent will be around 1500 to 3000 baths a night, mostly thai customers from bangkok, is that real ?? i found it way more expensive than any room in chiang mai excepts the 4 stars rating minimum of course.

Room rates depend entirely on what it is, so not exactly true.

However, any rooms/bungalows that are decent are certainly in the 1000/3000 mark.

Friends stayed at a new bungalow last wekend, 1200b, they had rooms also for 800b.

But a resort we used to stay at is 1900b per room and next door is 2500b per room, you can get cheap for 500b but I would not stay there.

I would be interested to see your friends place as the water wheel and wind deal interest me, not sure how practical they are though.

I would also like to see a few pictures of that water wheel. When you have time away from your own build. Would think most hydro power would be from small turbines.

Some stone work...my new stonemason has improved no end after his first effort.

I had to show him how to do it, but now he is producing first class...nearly....work......although somewhat slowly.

the sandstone floor in main room...still not finsihed...first time these guys had laid sandstone....nothing like learning by doind

these 'pots' on the wall I got them to make on the ground and then tie into the wall with steel...they are to put a hanging plant or 3 in and have a drain tube outside..

This is the water/shower bucket....splash job with solar heated water into it...hopefully...and the other is the stone wash basin..

Thanks, been down there for last 5 days just finishing off stuff.

The garden is all in now, looks amazing. it was still a construction site on thursday and on friday morning they cleaned up, leveled and put the dirt down and I went to get a truck load of grass and we laid it, finished 5.30pm and the difference it made was just chalk and cheese.

Ok, here is the completed shaggy looking bungalow...very happy with it, spent the xmas/new year school holidays down there and was very comfy and relaxing..
