KY is still a beautiful area to live.....while the development is taking away the feel of a few years ago....it is still very peaceful during the week, during the wet season and on a couple of weekends during the high season. Long weekends are the worst.

The air is fresh, it is several degrees cooler than Bkk...we have no aircon, have never needed it and only use fans for maybe 3 months of the year max.

Having said that, with the crazy price increases....the temptation to sell is not only because of the high price we would get.

Because of the high price of land now, the only real return for most is to build condos style and there are a shitload going up.

I am worried that the 2 blocks next to ours would have to be eventually sold by their little old lady owners for mega bucks and then condos built to our boundary....not so nice anymore, blocking some mountain views for sure, increasing possible drainage to our block as it is not raised and we do not intend to do that as we keep the rice growing and ponds etc. Increase in noise and sticky beaks.

However on the other track....if that did happen, then our 7 rai in the middle of it all would be a peaceful oasis with botanic garden type appeal and be still worth a premium to a suitable purchaser after some exclusivity in the same area.

The little valley where we are is literally 2 degrees cooler than 1km away from it, the mountains, the river and greenery keep it cool....you drive into it and it is 30 and when you hit the valley it drops to 28 and with windows down, it is a very noticeable change.

Anyway...decisions decisions...

Tough call, but if ya think there is going to be a loss of view due to construction of a condo........
Well, as they say here "Up to you" :)
