Stage 1 provisional plans, to be revised, Front

The 2 part roof at the front is going to become 1.

The upper windows will reduce in hight by 50 cm (currently 1 metre) & so upper roof will be lowered

Roof overhang will increase from 1.5 to 2.5 meters

I'm missing the 2nd floor .....
I'm sure I saw it in your iPad or is my Oldtimer's really kicking in?

No you Oldtimer's still not here yet.

SWMBO decreed that she doesn't want to clean the second floor so it's gone and the ground floor grew a bit.

Thanks fixed up the Fan drop pole mounted issue, with them.

Spoke with him yesterday and got confirmation it was a DR Model (the drop pole mounted) and not a HR Model (ceiling mounted)

Moving along slowly but moving.

We have just had a visit by our architect and a professor who has a sideline business testing the load bearing qualities of soil for building locations.

After getting the results from the testing our foundations may be able to be reduced in size.

Interesting, I would have dug a hole 1.5 m deep and done on a CBR or Plate Bearing Test, unless of course you suspect a problem with the soil strata beneath that. Suppose it depends on whether you are also in a flood prone area

Are you planning on Piles or Pad Footings for your foundation

We just went with the recommendation of our architect. I suspect that a CBR would have taken very much longer than the 4 or so hours, and I'm not sure if it's available. That's why we used an STP (STANDARD PENETRATION TEST)

As to flooding, no risk. As to foundations they will be pad as probably piles, unless drilled, would be impossible. At the moment our foundations are based on an 8ton per sqm but it is much more likely that our soil is 30 tons or higher we are still waiting on the report.

Things are moving along.

The foundations will now be 1 meter deep. This is well within the fill we added, as it has compacted nicely

There has also been a first ceremony asking the Buddha for good luck, I've just heard that the lottery number today is 11 and that's the scheduled official start day, so maybe it worked :?

There was an offering of a pigs head.

That in true frugal Thai style was then eaten by SWMBO and friends.

Yesterday was the official start of building, the Sao Ek- Sao Toe first post ceremony

SWMBO was very happy with how it went and has gained a lot of "face" because of the guests who came including the OrBoTor, teachers, village heads and others
