LED down lights that can be dimmed?

Postby Sometimewoodworker » Fri Sep 02, 2016 7:48 pm

I've, so far, drawn a blank in every shop. All the LED downlight units I've found can't be dimmed.

The only thing I've found is a down light designed for a standard CFL and dimmable bulbs, and while it could do the job it is nowhere as nice as a proper unit, it will also provide a ready access point for geckos and other vermin into the ceiling area.

so I'm looking for anyone who has an idea of how to get these in Thailand

It looks as if they are out of business.

Nothing showing on their website.

It looks like a generic supplier, and I want something that as far as I can see is unusual in Thailand at the moment.

I did get an email from them recently [only just read it] and they say it's site maintenance to set up a better system.

I get this on their site:

I saw that so went to the FB page and found this

So it looks as if they have died as it is now 2 months since they stopped taking orders

Thanks but.

Regrettably the only two they have, as far as I can see provide a nice way for creepy crawly things to go between the top and bottom of the ceiling and a great way for dust to go through as well.

So I'm still looking.

If I have to try to buy from China then there are a few options like DX.com but I would still prefer a supplier in Thailand.

An update on the dimming downlights.

DX.com and BangGood both have them.

DX.com had the better choice I have some samples

And have put them up in a temporary fitting to judge which ones we will be using

The choice for our bedroom are the small round Large round and small square lights that are switched on in this picture.

They are controlled by an RF dimmer and can also change colour from 6,500K (a cold blue white) to 2,700K (the warm white you can see

The prices are between US$15.62 and US$25.54 each

No. Still nothing, Lamptun now has a non dimming unit that nobody keeps in stock, C.T.L. has a 12 watt unit for a reasonable price 100+VAT

The only way to get dimmable fittings is direct import from China. Dimmable bulbs are easily available.

It is difficult to illustrate the difference in light output directly as the iPad automatically changes exposure.

There are now quite a large variety of non dimmable LED down lights in places like Global house

And for the first time I've seen two types of triac dimmable lights in HomePro so if one of the few types are suitable you can now get a small selection in Thailand.
